History
Greenbank has operated in Liverpool since 1983 to enhance opportunities for disabled people and other disadvantaged communities through education, training, employment, transport, sport and recreation.
The charity was founded by Gerry Kinsella; who remains Chief Executive and a team of active volunteers, with an initial fundraising target of £30,000 to refurbish what is now Greenbank College and make it suitable for providing training for disabled people.

Prior to its occupation by Greenbank in 1983, the building on Greenbank Lane had a variety of uses. Initially built as an exclusive boys boarding school in 1895, it was later occupied by the Children’s Rest School of Recovery and by the WRENS during the second world war (as accommodation for those serving at the Western Approaches).
